Where does the name "Balder" come from?

Balder The Beautiful

Balder was one of the Norse, or Scandinavian, Gods. He was also known as "Balder The Beautiful" because he was so beautiful that he shone with a bright light and was the most beloved of all the Norse Gods. He was also very wise and above all else fair so that all parties would bring their disputes to him in confidence that Balder would make just decisions. These proceedings were held in a court in the clouds called Glitnir. Balder was eventually killed by the evil god Loki with an arrow of mistletoe. Loki was chained to big rock for eternity for the deed.

I was drawn to many of the ideals that Balder represented when I was searching for a corporate identity, and finally settled on this name. I also liked the fact that it was less than 7 letters, relatively easy to spell on a single hearing, and perhaps most importantly, balder.com hadn't yet been claimed as an internet domain...
